WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

  • 68% of the military population include family members struggling with financial stress and instability
  • 7.5% of the veteran population, approximately 1.2 million veterans, living on incomes below the poverty level and relying on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to feed their families.
  • The highest low-income veteran’s population are in States like Florida (108,000), Texas (94,000), and California (90,000) have
    75.8% of military personnel, veterans, and their families carry debt.
  • 51.2% face significant barriers to savings
  • Financial depression is the catalyst for – Divorces – Broken families – Depression – Homelessness – Suicide – Spousal Abuse – Child Abuse and Abandonment, – Dishonorable Discharges.
  • The military has an urgent need of 38,000-permanent housing placements – to date, the department had only managed to build 600 of the total housing units, highlighting a severe shortfall – VA Newsletter 2020.
  • That financial instability within this community not just affects their quality of life but also directly impacts national security as the stability and readiness of our military forces are intimately connected to their financial well-being.

Building Affordable – Sustainable – and Thriving Communities

The Veterans Empowered Charitable Foundation (VETEM) raises funds through donations and government grants to fund its specialized military housing programs for addressing the financial challenges and housing crisis affecting our military, offering housing solutions that not only provide a home and shelter but also financial wealth and stability through rental income opportunities. 

Through its partners and affiliates partners, the VETEM Foundation provides solutions that meets the specific needs of the military population, acquiring land and building new homes, acquiring existing homes, renovating and modernizing, adding solar, as well as purchasing and installing ADUs as rental housing to rent to military. 

Additionally, we acquiring housing communities, renovating them, and adding community centers and support services.
VETEM strives to provide the necessary tools to better the lives of those who unselfishly serve.
